By means of the B&L Project Indicator (BPI), we track the project status at regular intervals. Not only the time and budget requirements, but also the quality of the results and communication skills among the participants will be evaluated.
The project indicator has thus proved to be of value in many of our larger migration projects dealing with staff from different companies.
The project indicator is based on a structured questionnaire provided through office-tools or as a programmed form for intranet/internet.
Target groups and application areas for BPI The BPI is aimed at all who are either involved in IT projects as project manager and project director or who are responsible for the successful implementation of projects.
Therefore, the BPI is an instrument for the management level. It does not replace the project controlling or an exact project planning. Rather, it serves as a complementary quality assurance tool for identifying at first glance if the project moves properly or begins to show a need of action regarding to one or more of several factors concerning quality, communication, capacity or costs.
Even if the BPI was developed in the field of Document Management and electronic archiving, it is not limited to these topics. In principle, the BPI can be adopted for every larger IT project. At least two different parties, like the responsible department, internal IT and a third party support company should be integrated in such a project. The project should last more than two months or have a particular strategic significance.
